… But seriously! Go See it now! It’s absolutely amazing. If you have played video games at all in the last 25 years. Then you will get most if not all of the video game references. From The Zelda music, to the mario coins to the awesome 1-ups and street fighting abilities that I wish real life had.

Here is the trailer to the movie, and it totally doesn’t even do the movie justice at all.
Scott Pilgrim VS The Trailer

Here is a review of movies. The guy is a little weird, but he does know what he is talking about.
Scott Pilgrim VS The Fury of the Film Fan Review

Ok…. Seriously, if you are reading this post. Then there is no reason why you shouldn’t go see this movie right now…. DO IT. It’s an actual GOOD Video Game movie! I’m not going to spoil it, but lets just say that the day after seeing the movie, I went out and bought all the books. They are pretty easy to read, but go more in depth of all the ex’s and Scott and Ramona’s Relationship.

5 Thumbs up, or whatever. It’s amazing. Period.

So, today as I was driving up to the store, the Gamestop sign went up across the street…. yeah, Gamestop is trying to take us on.

Games 4 U has been here in the same location for over 12 years now, and now Gamestop is going in across the street. So I felt that I should just verify why you should shop here instead of Gamestop. Hit the jump to see the list!

1. We get new releases early. Gamestop does “Midnight Launches sometimes, for some games” but the moment we get new games in, we are able to sell them to the public. Most of the time, you can just walk in and get games sometimes a week before launch date. If you preorder at Gamestop, It’s still first come first serve. When you preorder at Games 4 U, we will put your name on a copy and wait till you pick it up. We will not sell your copy to someone else!

2. We do repairs! We will fix all your busted systems or consoles. Red Ring of Death? Yellow Light of Death on your PS3? Cracked LCD on your PSP? DS Lite not reading games? We can fix all of these and have very reasonable turn around times. We also offer free diagnostics as well. We don’t charge to take a look at your system just to figure out what is wrong with it.

3. Old School Gaming needs! Games 4 U is the only gaming store around that has All of your old school gaming needs covered. Want to play Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt on Original Classic Nintendo hardware? Check. Want to relieve that first time you played Multiplayer Goldeneye 007 on Nintendo 64? Check. Feel like getting back to your roots and show your kids an Atari 2600… We got you covered!

4. Tournaments. We hold tournaments here at Games 4 U, whether it be Halo, Goldeneye, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Marvel VS Capcom 2, Super Smash Bros. … the list goes on and on. We will be doing Tournaments ever month from now on as well. So suggest a game you would like to see and sign up!

5. Prizes. We have raffle tickets for sale at .50 cents a piece and do a raffle every time we do a tournament. Buy a ticket, write your name and number on it, and if you are not there when the raffle ticket is drawn, if you get picked, we will call you and tell you what you have own. Maybe store credit, maybe cash, maybe free swag from E3, maybe a free game… the possibilities are endless!

6. Reasonable Store Credit. We know how much you paid for your game when you bought it, we also know how much we are going to sell it for. We need to make a profit, but we actually give better store credit than anywhere else. Sure, Gamestop has the edge card… but we already have lower prices then them, we also give you fair store credit for your games too. If we have a ton of copies, sure we can’t take it in if we can’t sell it. But on average we are known for giving over double what gamestop gives in store credit.

7. We take in EVERYTHING! Have an old PlayStation? An original Xbox that you don’t play anymore? We’ll actually take it, unlike gamestop who don’t sell it or do trade ins on it anymore. Classic Nintendo, N64, Virtual boy stuff you want to get rid of? We’ll take it!

8. Try before you buy! What a concept right? Any used game in the store you can try before you buy it. Thinking about getting Red Dead Redemption? Let us pop it in and let you play it for a bit and see if you like it.

9. The Arcade isn’t dead! We have a few Classic Arcade cabinets, 25 cents to play!

10. Actual good Customer Service with people who know what we are talking about. Everyone who is employed with Games 4 U knows what they are talking about. We are all gamers and have grown up playing games, we don’t hire people who just want to sell you stuff you don’t need. We don’t pressure you into buying things you don’t need. All we want to do is make a living doing what we love and show people some cool stuff along the way.

11. It’s a fun place to hang out for a bit. This is the reason why we have couches in the store. We don’t mind you hanging out for a bit trying out games. Talk to fun people who want to actually talk about games. If it’s not busy, ask one of the employees to play a game with you… That is what we are about here, PLAYING GAMES!

12.Sponsors and Promotional deals. We are getting some support from other business and are starting to get more deals going on. We have a deal with Direct TV, that if you sign up and use our promotional code, you will get $100 in store credit. Either later this month, or early next month, we will be teaming up with Chipotle, and if you buy something in the store and bring your Games 4 U receipt, you will get a FREE BURRITO! FREE!!! Anything free is good…. I’m actually gonna go get some Chipotle for lunch now!

So there is a little list of why you should support Games 4 U and not the Uber-corporate brick and mortar giant Gamestop. Please, we are asking for your help and support. Keep Games 4 U from going down like all the other fun mom & pop store that have happened because of big corporate stores. This is your chance to make a difference! And if there is anything else that I left off of the list, be sure to make a comment and let me know. I’ll add it to the list. I’ll probably be making this list into a flyer and handing it out. I’ll put your name and comment on it so you get some credit too!

Well, Summer is here and being a gamer, you will not find me at the beach, but inside playing video games. Email all reviews to info.games4u@gmail.com

So sit down, think a bit, and write up a good review for a game that you really like and enjoy playing!

E3 2010 is over, and I finally have had a chance to recover and recharge my batteries and am ready to tell you all about it!

For those of you that don’t know what E3 is, it is The Electronic Entertainment Expo (or E3 for short) and is a big convention displaying all the new games and technology coming out for the next year. All the big players are there Microsoft, Sony & Nintendo; plus a lot of developers and publishers, EA, Activision, Take 2, THQ, Capcom, plus a few smaller companies and distributors. This is an industry only event and is not open to the public, which is a total bummer. But on the plus side, I was able to go because of the store and also I was able to bring along a few friends & employees this time around for ummm…..research…Yeah, that’s it! Research.

We drove up to the Los Angeles Convention Center Tuesday morning, and got our badges and was stood around in the lobby and watched a bunch of trailers before they finally let us onto the show room floor. Once inside we were like kids in a candy store. All the newest video games that wouldn’t be out till Christmas time, at our fingertips! What to do and see first. We quickly headed over to the Disney booth since it was basically in front of us and played some of the new Tron game, and also Epic Mickey, then took a stroll over to see some of our distributor friends and talked shop a bit. Then it was off to play everything else under the sun.

Some of the better games that we saw and played was Marvel vs Capcom 3…all I can say is wow. I honestly don’t understand what they will be doing for the next 9-10 months since the game seemed so polished already. out of the 8 playable characters, the game seems amazingly finished and solid. Another great game that we played was Rock Band 3, which was my favorite. They have put so much effort into it making it the most Superior music game out there. When the game launches during Christmas time, there will be 2000 playable songs in the game. All the tracks previously downloaded are all compatible and the new keyboard will make this game super fun; but the thing that really catches my interest is the new “Pro” Mode and the ability to use the new Fender Squire guitar which is A REAL GUITAR! The game actually now teaches you how to play guitar! Since I really don’t have any musical talent, I am super stoked on this.

Another fun game we played was Vanquish, which is a game that could be best explained as Gears of War/Lost Planet/Jet Grind Radio/Wet, It’s made by Sega, so you know its actually gonna be a lot of real fun. The main character has jet rockets on his body so he slides all over the place while shooting huge enemies and taking cover. Look out for this game when it launches, it’ll be something you want to check out, believe me. We also got to check out the new Sonic games. Sonic Colors is a really fun Wii/DS game that is basically the best parts of Sonic Unleashed (3D worlds) and morphs it into side scrolling 2D as well. Pretty neat. Then Sonic 4, which I really liked but some of the other people I went with didn’t like it as much. It’s classic sonic, but with a 3D Sonic character and some auto attack stuff tacked on. Once you get the hang of it, it’s not that hard, but it takes some getting used to. There was a ton of other things we got to see and do, like Kinect and DC Universe Online, Fable III, Dead Rising, ect…

All in all it was a super fun experience and we got to meet a few celebrities (like Morgan from the show Chuck) and got to play with a ton of new games and accessories. If you have any other questions about the games that we played and the things we saw, please just let me know, or just come into the store, I’ll be more that happy to share!

After posting this video, R* (Rockstar, the creators of Red Dead Redemption) actually contacted me and gave me a few codes for ingame items. Gold Guns, War Horse and Deadly Assassin’s outfit. I figured why don’t I create a contest to give away two of them? Info after the jump

So here is the contest: Create a Games 4 U logo, something fun, something little, something big, something awesome. Use your imagination. It’s so that we can use it for a store logo on posters and other things. The best two looking logos gets the codes (Simple enough right?) Email all logos to: info.games4u@gmail.com

OK…..I LOVE Westerns. With a passion. So with that said, I was always looking forward to the next Red Dead game after Red Dead Revolver, which came out in 2004. I thought it was an awesome game….then Gun came out and blew it out of the water with the open ended world type of GTA gameplay style. Now that Take 2 bought the rights to it and Rockstar was given the reins….who could go and give Gun a run for its money. I mean, if you want to make a game that is better in every single way, I say give it to the people who really created the genera of Sandbox gaming. Rockstar has done a amazing job with Red Dead Redemption. If you like Westerns, or even just like GTA at all, I highly suggest that you pick up this game now. I will write a review as soon as I finish the main story.

I’ve seen a few moms come into the store today with their kids and buy them video games. How awesome is that?! Even on their own special day they are doing things for us. Seriously guys, just go up to your mom today and tell her you love her and appreciate that she’s tried to do the best she can for you. No one is perfect, but at least she tried. So to all moms out there today, Happy Mothers Day!

I was at Disneyland and my friend and I were talking about old school games and we started talking about Super Mario Bros. 2. Since I haven’t had time to put into RPGs lately, I thought this would be a good first attempt at a Retro Review.

Just a quick note on Super Mario Bros. 2. SMB 2 is actually not really the second mario game. SMB2 was actually a little game called Doki Doki Panic 2. It was a different game and had Mario characters put into it. The real Super Mario Bros 2 game was finally released onto The Super Nintendo in the Super Mario All-Stars game called Super Mario Bros -The Lost Levels.

Ok, First off you get to pick your character, as a kid I always picked Princess Peach because each character has a special talent. Peach hovers a bit in the air while jumping, Luigi jumps really high and so on.

So, since this game is different, when you jump on an enemy, you can’t kill them, you basically ride on top of them. Then you can pick them up and throw them. If you throw them into another enemy, then you can kill them. Or you can pick up a few of the vegetables in the ground and then throw them into the bad guys.

The “Boss” characters are different too. The first “Boss” you come in contact to is Brido, who is a character who’s gender is apparently undetermined at this point. As a kid I had no idea what to do, so I’d jump on the egg and ride it to the end of the screen. Once I figured out how to do it, the rest of the game was a sinch. All you really have to do is jump on the egg when Birdo shoots it at you, and then pick it up out of the air, defying the laws of physics and gravity and throw it back at Brido.

Once you kill Birdo, you enter some random door that looks like the head of an eagle and then goes into the bonus stage. The bonus stage is a slot machine where you can get extra lives if you match up the images. The number of tries depends on how many coins you get in the “negative zone” which is the zone you get to when you pull out random potions out of the ground and throw them on the ground. Once you throw the potion on the ground, it makes a door appear and when you go through the door, you go into the negative zone. The negative zone is exactly what area you were in on screen, but without enemies and the ground is all in black. If you pull up something from the ground that is a regular vegetable in the normal world, it will be a coin, and that is where you can get more tries in the slot machine bonus stage. When you pull up something that was a potion in the real world, you get a Mushroom which will either restore part of your life or give you an extra slot for life and also make you bigger as well.

See quite different than the normal run of the mill Mario game. If you ever want to try this game out, come into Games 4 U and we’ll be happy to set it up for you and let you see how extremely weird, yet awesome this game, that had nothing to do with mario, actually is.
